what we believe

Open Door Preschool students are culturally and socioeconomically diverse, coming from a variety of nations and speaking many different languages including Spanish, Rundi, Swahili, and Vietnamese. We affirm diversity and celebrate our differences! Through Open Door, families are resourced as they assimilate, gaining access to Grace United Methodist Church, the Agape Clinic, legal services, and a community of support.

Open Door Preschool nurtures their students by participating in weekly chapel services, Godly Play in the classroom and with patience, understanding, and guidance. All preschoolers need to learn the basics of education no matter where they were born. The curriculum is taught in a fun, playful manner - playing in centers to learn cooperation, sitting at desks to learn how to hold crayons and scissors to develop their fine motor skills, singing songs and dancing to develop their gross motor skills, sitting in circle time to hear stories and lessons so that they can learn language slowly and methodically.

Open Door Preschool has been a part of the East Dallas community for over forty years. We bring diverse students together, and serve children from a variety of countries including Mexico, Korea, Vietnam, Burundi, Japan, and China.
